Releasing Anger – Letting It Out Before it Consumes You
The ultimate goal of personal development is to achieve happiness in life. In order to reach this goal, we all must learn to cope with and overcome the act of lingering on emotions. There is no way to eliminate emotions such as sadness or anger from our lives, but repressing these emotions is unhealthy and can lead to many problems over the course of your life. With something as potentially dangerous and crippling as anger, releasing it instead of storing it inside you will benefit not only you but all of those around you. Your friends, family, coworkers, and you yourself will all be thankful that you took the steps to relieve yourself of the burden of repressed anger.
Left suppressed inside you, anger can grow into blind rage. You may not even realize that you’re doing it at the time, but this can lead to becoming verbally and physically abusive to those around you. It can cause high blood pressure, cancer, and other physical problems. For those reasons it is vital to release your built up anger. There are only a few steps involved in the process and the results can be amazing. First you need to understand what is truly causing you such rage. Be completely honest during this stage and try to track down your real issues. It may be an abusive parent or a bully from childhood. Whatever it may be, giving your anger a face is vital.
Next, find a solitary location. This step can be embarrassing at first but will become easier after one or two times. You need to let out your anger. Scream, either a primal cry or scream out everything you’ve wanted to express to that abusive parent or that bully. Whatever needs to be said, scream it out. You might want to turn music up as loud as it will go to help you, or add a physical element such as punching a pillow. Scream until your body trembles and you have nothing left to let out.
You’ll likely have to repeat this process several times at first and then regularly whenever you feel your anger growing inside. Letting out your rage before it becomes a problem is a vital process if you suffer from anger issues. You may want to speak to a professional therapist in addition to releasing your anger alone. We all deal with anger on a regular basis. The trick is to control it and deal with it instead of letting it fester inside of us until it controls us. Releasing it with this method is a great way of doing just that.
