Make Your Manicure Last – Revitalize Your Nails

When it comes to learning how to make your manicure last, there are a few tricks that you can follow in order to maintain beautiful, clean and attractive hands. If you want to have nails that are strong and will not crack, chip or split under pressure, it is important that you first begin with a healthy lifestyle. Having a good diet and exercise routine, you will find that your nails as well as your skin and hair will all grow nicely and be smooth and moisturized.

Make Your Manicure LastIn order to make your manicure last you will need to first determine that you will not push back on your dry cuticles. If you do this, your nail polish will more than likely chip and then you will need to redo your manicure. Before beginning your manicure, take some time to moisturize your cuticles and push them back with a wooden stick most commonly referred to as an orangewood stick. Also, do not take the extra time to soak your nails. This causes your nail beds to soak up water and then when the water is evaporated and gone from your nails, your polish will crack and chip due to the changing size of your nails.

Next, you will need to make sure the surface of your nails are clean in order to make your manicure last. Any type of dirt, grime, oil or even left over polish will cause the new polish not to adhere to the nail as well. Take a little extra time to go ahead and scrub your nails with a brush and soap and then apply some polish remover with acetone over them in order to get the area as dry as possible. Next you will need to file your nails. Make sure that you only move the file in one direction and that you only round them out a little bit. Keeping the nail mostly square will help maintain the strength of the nail.

Once you have properly prepped your nails, you can then make your manicure last by applying a base coat first. This will help the polish adhere better to your nail, last longer and even go on smoother. There are base coats on the market that will even make your nails smoother by filling in the cracks and ridges that you may have. Now you can go ahead and apply the colored polish. Even though it seems nice, do not use a fast drying brand. When the polish has an ample amount of time to dry, it will become stronger and will not dent or smudge.

Now you can apply the top coat and have a beautiful manicure. In order to maintain it and make your manicure last, you will want to moisturize your hands multiple times a day as well as apply a top coat when your color begins to wear down. You can apply it right over dried nail polish, your nails will look revitalized again just like a new manicure.
